People against automation

Idk what it is about automation but this longshoreman strike has brought some interesting people out. Specifically the “we need to save jobs by preventing automation” people. What’s the reasoning behind that? People don’t just lose their job to automation and then disappear off the face of the earth. They retool and reskill.

If you ask Reddit, we shoulda stayed digging holes with our hands because it required more jobs. Hand diggers being in the streets has no benefit to society. We need to save their jobs from the evil backhoes!!!
