Cato Scholars Available to Comment on California Wildfires
Cato Institute
The Cato Institute has several scholars available to comment on the deadly wildfires in California.
They can touch on policy errors that helped contribute to the destruction, including restrictive land-use policies and inefficient forest management practices.
They are also able to speak to the impediments to response and rebuilding, including insurance and why governments should leave recovery efforts to the better-equipped organizations like the American Red Cross. They can talk about the need to invest in private insurance and the individual responsibility to protect property, and how keeping recovery from becoming a government-funded entitlement will lead to a more resilient rebuilding.
