Humans, Insects & Policing

Did you know that humans are not the only species to have individuals who have specialized labor roles dedicated to policing?

Eusocial species, such as ants, termites, wasps, bees and the naked mole rat, also have police. Policing seems to be inherent to species where colonies are organized around a strong centralized hierarchy – where autonomy, agency and self ownership are meaningless concepts, and even the liminal consciousness of individuals has been subsumed by the collective.

So then what does this say about humans?

Are we becoming a hive like species? Are we becoming the Borg?
