Reasons why I’m glad Trump won as a non-American

This post is partly a reaction to this post and a way to vent my thoughts to an understanding audience.

While Trump doesn’t embody any libertarian ideal, he positively influenced trust in the media—namely, he lowered it significantly, especially among Republicans in 2016 (source).

Progressivism is a religion and a particularly insecure one at that. It cannot bear any dissent, even if it’s a loudmouth, moderate Republican one. When they go after Trump, they get far more careless than usual, which results in both hilarity and actual consequences to the status quo.

Trump’s victory not only frustrates progressives, but it also encourages right-wing parties, politicians, and ideologues to voice their opinions, run for office, and act on their beliefs. There is a reason why Javier Milei is compared to Trump. While Trump is a protectionist and Milei is for free trade, Trump’s campaign tactics worked well for him. Another example is Bukele, who came into power in 2019 and managed to save Salvadoreans from the horrors of MS-13.

This election was significant both politically and culturally. Back in 2015, no one would have imagined a future where the President of the United States would be thanking Joe Rogan and Elon Musk for his victory. Promising times lie ahead for freedom.
