Tucker

I think Tucker is a good AnCap movie. By Francis Ford Coppola (Godfather, Outsiders, Apocalypse Now).

It’s a good treatment of how, in the few years after WW2, the big Detroit automakers used the government to put down competition. By extension it’s an example of how capitalism becomes bastardized when it intersects with government.

I will point out that Tucker actually did a few things that might violate tort law in an AnCap society, most notably licensing car dealerships for a car that at the time he had no means of manufacturing. But the way he was taken down was kind of gross.

Also the movie attributes to him a lot of inventions he didn’t actually invent, just chose to include in his car. HOWEVER: even when I’m driving on the highway today I’m wondering to myself why my headlights aren’t tracking with my steering wheel! Tucker pulled that off back in postwar 1940s! And that WAS his invention!

It’s funny how this movie by such an esteemed moviemaker seems to have been shoved under the rug for not being left enough. You’ll never see it on a streaming service. I think you can rent it on Amazon or…. piracy is pretty easy.
