Why can’t some leftists accept the harsh reality of freedom?

I’ve seen many “leftist libertarians” who claim to be all about freedom, and I decided to ask them some questions to see if they really did care about freedom, the first one was about guns. None of them supported guns, they claimed that “people shouldn’t go to school and worry about being shot”, the second question was about financial privacy, and none of them supported it, they said “we shouldn’t have tools that make it easier for criminals to make anonymous transactions”. So it seems that these peoples just can’t accept the harsh reality of freedom, because if you want freedom, you need to have these things. Some of them even deluded themselves into believing their own version of freedom, they tell me that having guns and financial privacy “isn’t real freedom”, that’s just doing what you want”, and then they drop the classic “you can’t be free if you’ve been shot”. It’s so obvious that they only care about safety, but they just like the word freedom. I know there are leftist libertarians out there who do support guns and financial privacy
